For fifty years, the California Bluegrass Association's mission has been the promotion and preservation of Bluegrass, Old-time and Gospel music. One of the largest bluegrass organizations, the CBA puts on an annual festival, the Father's Day Bluegrass Festival, in Grass Valley, California. But it is small enough that it sponsors many local events and musicians, including concerts, lessons and classes. The CBA is also known for its stellar youth programs, including Kids on Bluegrass, and its Youth Academy. It also has an instrument lending library available to kids. Local Southland events include the South State 48 Jam, held in November in Carlsbad, and the Great 48 Jam, held in January in Bakersfield.

They are an organization of bluegrass pickers and grinners who take part in and promote Bluegrass music events in the Southwestern United States. The Southwest Bluegrass Association brings people together for the preservation, enjoyment, and advancement of bluegrass music. Their goal is: To promote and sponsor bluegrass music and family-oriented events; assist other organizations, event promoters and any others involved with bluegrass music;
improve public appreciation of bluegrass, folk, gospel and the music’s contribution to our American heritage; to encourage others to support local attendance at music events; to develop public and school-based activities and events that will introduce and encourage people to take part in music.
Camp and Strum is a group that does just that! They enjoy going camping and bringing their guitars, basses and other instruments along. No membership required. You can find them on Facebook at
